A creative & healing workshop for anyone who has ever felt broken, empty of strength & beauty, beaten down & belittled by events in their life. Also... just for folks who want to PLAY!!

Imagine rolling like a puppy in the fabrics, textures and colors that make you feel GOOD! Choose these to create your Unique dollŐs body.

No structured sewing needed to costume . Gather broken & discarded bits of fabrics, nettings, trims, ribbons, yarns & fibers, silk flowers, feathers, beads, buttons, broken jewelry, etc. etc. & be prepared to PLAY!

Using the bits, pieces & scraps that 'speak to you', create a fantasy cloth doll that affirms that nothing is too broken or discarded to become beautiful again, including US!!

  • Lesson Two: Sewing body parts, stuffing, assembly
  • Lesson Three: Costuming
  • Lesson Four: Hair & Headdresses

Finish with "Giving away your pain" using the Organza bag & scrolls or... make her your "JOY" doll and write treasured memories on the scrolls.

Kat Bunker

Kat Bunker        Kat has wanted to be an artist since she was old enough to say so. Her life since then has been an eclectic series of adventures. As a child of an Air Force "lifer" and an artistic mother, she was exposed to many cultures, to fantasy & folklore & possibilities.

She's worked in needlework & fabric stores, partnered a needlework design company, made stage clothing for musicians and for theatre, and was even a tattoo artist for awhile. After some years in Corporate Marketing, she stayed home following the birth of her daughter, and discovered multimedia figurative sculpture in the form of 'dolls'. These figures demand that one be a Jack of all trades and a Master of some. She's done everything from fantasy figures to exacting portraiture.

Kat began teaching & expanding into different media. She learned soft sculpture from Lisa Lichtenfels and, on request, began to teach that as well. She has taught in the US and in France, & will be teaching in Italy.

After seeing the variety of different artist's interpretations in Patti Culeas' Cloth Doll Making book, Kat gave herself a chance to PLAY by creating a cloth doll pattern & working in bits that might otherwise be discarded. That first doll brought up many painful memories of feeling broken & discarded after a long ago abusive relationship. She realized that beauty had been reborn in the materials in the doll and in herself. That led to Kat's making her own pattern & doing "Broken to Beautiful"doll workshops at the local Shelter for Abused Women.

All of us have something to heal from, so this class, "Broken to Beautiful" has been added to Kat's offerings for you.

You can also make memory or souvenir dolls by using heirloom bits or pieces that were found on a certain trip. ENJOY !!
