Dollmakers Anonymous
Catonsville, MD
Our club has been in existence since March 1996!
We meet, usually, on every last Monday at The Catonsville Senior Center, 501
N. Rolling Road in Catonsville, from 9:30 am until 2:00 or thereabouts,
depends on what we are involved in at the time.. We now have scheduled dates
that Include July and August, but these months are not meetings, per se, but
are set aside for UFO gatherings, and who doesn't have them?! ;o)
We are a diverse group of talented ladies in various stages of achievement in
cloth doll making. Ever on the lookout for new and innovative ways to "play
with dolls," we get our information and inspiration from lots of sources. We
have a couple of 'challenges' each year and also include many interesting,
challenging happenings - including fun field trips to many different places,
always including lunch!
Our main objective is to PLAY, CREATE and PROMOTE our beloved cloth dolls!

We have been in operation since 1994 and currently have 26 members. We issue an information filled monthly newsletter. Club dues are $20.00 a year, which mostly covers the cost of the newsletter. We do not currently have associate membership, but hope to do so very soon. Our membership covers the full spectrum of cloth dollmaking from beginners to advanced, people who use patterns to those who design their own dolls or even bears.
We have in club challenges, charity dollmaking (we annually donate a fully decorated doll tree to the Atlanta Festival of Trees, which is auctioned to fund The Egleston Children's Hospital), and a monthly pin swap. We have Christmas in July with doll swaps, and an annual Tea Party, to which we invite all the other local doll clubs.
We have seminars with club members teaching their specialities, ie sculpting (cloth and clays), beading, face painting, etc., and have regular guest teachers. Over the years we have been fortunate to have elinor peace bailey, Christine Shively, Sally Lampi, Virginia Robertson, Dee Dee Triplett, and Barbara Willis.

Fabric Fantasy Cloth Doll Club
Fabric Fantasy Cloth Doll Club
Bakersfield, Ca.
The club is over 13 years old and still going strong. We have seen many changes in our organization during the years but our major goal has stayed the same. To be able to share, socialize and learn from others who are addicted to making cloth dolls too!
Our club meets monthly, usually the second Saturday of the month. We are a very flexible group and our meeting days and times are subject to change. This usually is because we are going on a "Road Trip." If there is a Doll Show or Exhibit with in a 2 hour drive, we're there. We also have mini workshops where we will work on a project together.
Right now we are starting the new year with a pass around doll. Participants make a doll body, each month the doll is given to someone new who will complete an assigned task. In July the wayward traveler is returned to it's mother with it's own unique personality. That means that each doll will have had 6 different members helping mold it into the doll it is. I can hardly wait for the unveiling.
We also have secret pals. We will draw their names in March 2003 and we will reveal to each other in March 2004 by giving a doll made specifically by your secret pal for you. Not to mention each month you will get a little treat.
We end each year with our annual Christmas Potluck/Ornament exchange. The first year we tried this everyone wanted every ornament. Yes, you guessed it; we now make enough ornaments to give each member one so we each go home with a box full of different ornaments.
