Crooked Tree Hollow Cloth Doll Club
Crooked Tree Hollow Doll Club meets monthly where our primary focus is the mutual enjoyment of one another's love for cloth doll making and collecting. Our members consist of beginners to quite accomplished dollmakers who appreciate a variety of doll types from primitive folk art to country decorative dolls to contemporary sculpted cloth dolls. As a group and as individuals we occasionally participate in shows and exhibits. Several of our members attended We Folk of Cloth as it is held in a neighboring community. We've had the pleasure of hostessing several wonderful out of the area doll artists such as elinor peace bailey, Jimmylene Wertman, and Jo Gummere and there are some exciting plans for guests in the coming months. Dates will be posted as confirmations are made. A monthly newsletter is published that includes schedules of club happenings and articles and assorted tidbits contributed by members.
Our regular monthly meetings begin with announcements by Frannie (our founding mother) of upcoming doll challenges and club projects. Occasionally we enjoy "playshops" where we might share hair techniques, embellishment ideas, various face making or costuming tricks, etc. Then the best part - Show and Tell - either a club challenge or dollmakers choice where we pass our dolls around and get to ask questions of the dolls "mother". The evening wraps up with a casual "tea party" where we can mingle and chat (the hardest part is saying goodnight).

The Reel Dolls
Philomath, Oregon
The Reel Dolls is a cloth doll club which meets on the third Wednesday of every month at JanniLou's Creations in Philomath, Oregon. Since we were hatched, so to speak, after a doll class at JanniLou's (elinor peace bailey class, of course!) we have followed the JanniLou theme of movies for our name. We will celebrate our second birthday in February.
Our members cover every variety of cloth doll making imaginable. Some use patterns, some only do original work. Some are beginners - we have members who have made their very first dolls after joining the group - others have had shows at art galleries, some have won awards at the state fair and art shows.
We have found room for all levels of skill and types of interests and enjoy each other immensely. Our meetings are playdays - we gather to show and tell and work on our individual projects, laugh together and have a thoroughly good time together - oh and have lunch, which is very important. Occasionally we'll have a demonstration of a technique, with participation optional. The main thing we have in common is a strong individuality and appreciation of each other and our work.
We currently have a show of dolls in the window of 27th Street Fabrics in Eugene, Oregon. This will go through December and part of January 2007.
